General InformationWhat to expect: Located in a quiet hotel zone north of downtown's traffic, families are attracted to this hotel for its pools and beachfront locale. Golfers come year-round. Although the resort does not have its own golf course despite its name, guests have playing privileges at the private Dunes Golf and Beach Club, which is less than three miles away. (Guests age 25 and younger are not permitted at the resort unless accompanied by an adult).Amenity highlights: Water attractions include a complex with a 65-by-30-foot pool; a children's pool; a 40-foot children's lazy river pool, and a 15-person spa tub--all sheltered in winter by a translucent roof. Adjacent is a seasonal, outdoor, 100-foot oval lazy river pool and a 15-person spa tub. A solarium offers a year-round, 45-by-12-foot pool paired with a four-person spa tub. Outside, another four-person spa tub provides open-air soaking. Insider tip: The Southern Elegance Casino Cruise Ship, docked 15 miles north of the resort, provides complimentary transportation to guests of the hotel to the ship.

The resort offers 620 air-conditioned guestrooms, suites, and two- and three-bedroom condominiums. All accommodations provide either a full kitchen or a kitchenette that includes a range, a microwave oven, a full-size refrigerator, a toaster, a coffee maker, and comes with dishes, glasses, flatware, and cookware. Decor features tropical furniture and pastel fabrics.Rooms and suites are located in the 14-story oceanfront hotel that includes a six-story parking garage and the resort's principal water attractions--to which all resort guests have access. Oceanfront two-bedroom condominiums are located in a seven-story building that includes a private, seasonal outdoor pool. The Caravelle Resort also offers two-bedroom condominiums (in three-story building) and three-bedroom condominiums (in a twelve-story building) set 1.5 blocks from the beach that includes a private, seasonal outdoor pool and does not provide an ocean view.

Water attractions include a complex containing a 65-by-30-foot pool; a flower-shaped children's pool; an oval, 40-foot children's lazy river pool with tubes, and a 15-person spa tub. In winter, a translucent roof shelters the complex, with the roof removed in late spring to late fall. Adjacent to the complex is a seasonal, outdoor, 100-foot oval lazy river pool with tubes and a 15-person spa tub. On the hotel's seventh floor, a solarium offers year-round swimming in a 45-by-12-foot pool paired with a four-person spa tub. Outside the solarium, another four-person spa tub provides open-air soaking.The beach lies just over wooden stairs protecting the sand dunes. Umbrellas and chairs are rented by the lifeguards seasonally. An expansive lawn with sunbathing chairs is located between the resort's main building and the beach. A water sports center 5.5 miles away offers a wide variety of rental equipment, including personal watercraft and windsurfers, and books parasailing flights and banana boat rides. Although the resort does not have its own golf course, guests have playing privileges at the private Dunes Golf and Beach Club, which features an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. that has hosted PGA Senior Tour tournaments and the Women's U.S. Open.
